Cayden's Dream Come True

Cayden’s Winnipeg Jets Dream Came True

Dream Kid Cayden got to practice with the Winnipeg Jets!

Dream Kid Cayden is a kind, thoughtful 9-year-old living with cancer. One of the things that brings him joy is hockey - Cayden plays street hockey in the warmer months and enjoys watching Winnipeg Jets games with his family. Cayden has been living with Cancer since he was less than two years old. He was treated with two successful rounds of chemotherapy and steroids for two separate tumours, and his family was hopeful that the disease would not reappear. Unfortunately, in March 2022, a new tumour was discovered on the back of Cayden’s skull.

During his treatments, Cayden was introduced to The Dream Factory and he shared that his Dream was to skate with the Winnipeg Jets.

His Dream came true plus so much more!

Cayden and his family were picked up in a limousine and escorted to the Iceplex. He and his brother joined the Jets on the ice for Sunday practice and got a tour of the locker room and facilities, plus jerseys and a whole bunch of Jets goodies. The next night at the game, Cayden got to sit on the Jets’ bench during the warmup. He may have looked shy when he saw his own face on the monitor as the crowd cheered for him and all the players tapped their sticks on the ice, but on the inside Cayden was ECSTATIC!

Before the game started, Josh Morrissey promised Cayden he’d try and score a goal for him, so Cayden was over the moon when Josh scored the game-winning goal in overtime!

Cayden and his brother have been wearing all the Jets gear they received for all the Jets games they watch. Cayden has been talking about the experience non-stop - he’s convinced that he’s the reason Josh scored the game winner.

This experience is a story that Cayden will have for life - and it’s because of kindness like yours!
