September 2022 - A Record Breaking Golf Tournament & Showing Super Strength in Support of a Dream Come True
September is Childhood Cancer & Leukodystrophy Awareness Month. Children who are diagnosed with Cancer or Leukodystrophy undergo grueling medical treatments – many of our Dream Kids are battling cancer and their bravery inspires us every day.
We’ve had a busy month at The Dream Factory! September welcomed The Dream Factory’s new Executive Director, Andrew Kussy – we’re so excited for what the future holds! The Josh Morrissey Classic golf tournament raised a record-breaking total, and Dream Kid Ava had a blast at Super Strength for Super Kids! We got to see several Dreams come true this month, and we released the Fall 2022 edition of The Dreamer!
Beckett’s Dream Trip Down Under
Nature-loving Dream Kid Beckett had a blast on his Dream Trip to Australia! He and his family fit as many awe-inspiring experiences as possible into their time Down Under. Beckett experienced some of the best snorkeling The Great Barrier Reef has to offer – he swam with sea turtles and millions of fish! On his trip, Beckett hugged kangaroos and koalas, went spearfishing with his dad, and swam with sea turtles. He and his family went on so many exciting adventures in Australia – Beckett really made the most of his Dream Come True!
Paul’s Dream Shopping Spree
Dream Kid Paul experienced a joyous Dream Come True this month! Paul and his family came into Winnipeg from their home in Easterville, MB for a Dream Shopping Spree! A stretch limousine picked Paul up from their hotel and brought him and his family to The Dream Factory for part one of his Dream – a PS5, TV, iPad, and a whole lot of other fun gadgets!
Then, Paul’s limo driver – who was a TON of fun – took Paul on a shopping spree around town – wherever Paul wanted to go. Paul’s big smile was so contagious as he held his balloons and gave two big thumbs up!
The Fall Issue of The Dreamer is Here!
The latest edition of The Dreamer showcases just how powerful our Dream Community’s kindness really is! In the Fall issue, you can read stories on some very special Dreams, like Aria’s – Aria is Disney’s newest princess! Her Dream Trip to Disney World was a blast! You can also read about Jack’s Dream cruise around Newfoundland! Jack said that this was one of the best… if not THE BEST vacation he’s ever been on. Josh Morrissey Classic Breaks Fundraising Records
At the beginning of September, we had a blast at the Josh Morrissey Classic Golf Tournament. Our friend and Dream Ambassador Josh Morrissey and his wife Margot joined us to hang out with some Dream Kids throughout the day. All in all, our incredible Dream Community came together and raised a record-breaking $191,527 in support of our Dream Kids!
At the tournament, Dream Kid Cody and his family got to meet Josh – Cody was thrilled to get his hockey card signed! All throughout the day, golfers and volunteers had an amazing day hitting the links and doing fun activities at each hole, like sampling gelati or throwing toy airplanes.
We are so thankful for everyone who came to the tournament and supported our Dream Kids – all the sponsors, golfers, bidders, and volunteers. We are so grateful for our wonderful Dream Community!
Super Strength for Super Kids
A few weeks ago, the 2nd Annual Super Strength for Super Kids strongman tournament took place in Brandon, MB. The event was in support of Ava’s Dream Come True – and the support was incredible!
Spectators cheered as participants in the tournament showcased their amazing strength in the axle lift, hammer hold, and tire flip events! Ava and her family got to take it all in, jump in the bouncy house, and take part in some strongman activities – and the smile on Ava’s face said it all! We are so grateful for everyone who made the 2nd Annual Super Strength for Super Kids event a success!
