Eli's Dream Come True

Eli’s Dream Come True

Dream Kid Eli recently visited Spain and experienced the high-adrenaline rollercoasters of PortAventura!

A Letter From A Dream Kid

It was incredible being on another continent for the first time. So many things were different from home and I was constantly surprised. Seeing Roman ruins casually scattered across the city was so beautiful, everything was.

The biggest highlight of the trip was obviously PortAventura, but also I loved just wandering around the ancient city of Tarragona where the weather was perfect and the culture was amazing. I got to put my feet in the Mediterranean as well as ride in a sailboat. We saw a medieval monastery that is still operating, with monks ignoring us while we toured. We walked on the wall of an old city and made Monty Python references. We ate such good food every day. Everything was amazing.

I went on four roller coasters and several smaller rides. The first roller coaster taught me what the phrase 'blinding speed' means as I couldn't open my eyes and my face mask was almost blown off my face. The second one was incredible. It started slowly going up and then dropped at absolute max speed. After I had tried all of the roller coasters I came back to this one and spent four hours riding it over and over. The next one is maybe second in the world for the most loops. It was a ton of fun. Finally, one of the biggest wooden roller coasters in the world. It was slower but a fun and relaxing time. My day at the theme park was one of the best days of my life, easily.

For my entire life I've loved roundabouts, the first thing I saw when I entered Tarragona was the biggest roundabout I've ever seen! There was a park in the middle of the roundabout with a fountain too!

There is a dish called patatas bravas, it's roasted potatoes with a tasty, spicy sauce. I could have eaten it every day. We went through the city market, which had multiple stories and had many things I had never seen before. There is nothing like that in Winnipeg. Another thing I loved was staying in a place right in the middle of the city so I could go exploring on my own and easily find my way home.

It was so amazing. I felt so lucky. Being on the other side of an entire ocean was mindblowing. I got to experience something that I never could have normally. I'm going to remember this forever and always be grateful.

This was the best trip we have ever been on. Everyone got to pursue their interests and experience amazing new things. We spent a lot of good time together but also got to be independent. We did lots of things but also got a lot of rest, and every part of the trip was meaningful and amazing.
