The Dream Maker Auction Raises Over $790,000
We are so ecstatic and proud to share that The Dream Maker Auction has raised a record-breaking amount once again - over $790,000! We are so grateful for all our sponsors, prize donors, bidders, and volunteers who helped bring this event to life! Thanks to you, more Dreams will come true for kids in Manitoba facing life-threatening illnesses than ever before!
Emcee Mark Morris was joined by Dream Kid Drea on the fabulous purple carpet to interview some of the guests as they entered the venue. Drea told some great jokes, heard some in return, and asked all the fashionable guests ‘who are you wearing tonight?’ When Drea asked special guest (and premier sponsor) Jim Gauthier why he supports The Dream Factory, he said “I think it’s a great cause for kids that aren’t feeling good to go away and have a little holiday.” Drea responded: “That’s beautiful.” We agree! You can see the video, below.
The night kicked off with Jamil the DJ, who helped us get down to some funky tunes. As our guests arrived and perused live auction lots, silent auction prizes, and swag bags, we were delighted to invite folks into the Winnipeg Kinsmen Dream Art Gallery, where Dream Kids displayed their artistic creations and encouraged art purchases in support of their Dreams. Dream Kid Zayla practically packed bags full of paintings and sold them herself!
As 2023 is The Dream Factory’s 40 year anniversary, we had help celebrating from Sugar Blossom Jewelry, who we teamed up with to create the Dream Bracelet! The bracelet was a huge hit at the auction, wrists were sparkling blue, pink, and pearly thanks to these awesome accessories. Bracelets are still available to purchase online!
We heard some touching stories from Dream Families, like Ethan’s and James’. In a special video presentation, Ethan’s family shared their experience with The Dream Factory and how important it was for Ethan to experience a Dream come true. We are so thankful to Ethan’s parents for sharing their story with us again this year. James made a grand entrance for his speech, complete with a super hero squad and sparklers on stage! James in his dapper silver suit was dubbed ‘the best dressed’ by Mark Morris, and was practically a celebrity at the photo booth.
The Live Auction portion of the evening was a blast, bidders were battling over some incredible prizes and some inspiring Dreams! Overall, The Dream Maker Auction raised over $790,000! Our incredible community came together with a force to support the inspiring children in Manitoba who are facing life-threatening illnesses.
We’d like to say a humongous thank you to everyone who supported the auction by sponsoring, donating prizes, bidding, and volunteering. An event like this is not possible without help from our community. Your involvement truly means the world.
Finally, we’d like to extend an extra special thank you to our incredible Dream Maker Auction committee. Kate, Alysha, Bret, Chris, Dan, Fabricio, Haley, Jeff, Kyle, Marc, and Mike - the countless hours each of you poured into this year’s event helped make it the smashing success it became. We are so grateful to each of you!
Until next year 👋💙
