Prairie Theater Exchange
The Submission Series has been created to support the growth of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Submission Grappling in Manitoba. This event aims to increase awareness about the sport of Jiu-Jitsu while simultaneously using it as vehicle to do good in the community - by donating all profits generated from the event to a Manitoba based charity.
“We know that in sport and in community, kids are the future. That is why we have chosen to partner with and support The Dream Factory and have committed to bringing Dreams to life for sick kids right here in Manitoba.”
The Dream Factory is a charitable organization dedicated to fulfilling dreams for children who are battling life-threatening illnesses. They are unique because they are based in Manitoba and all the funds raised stay in this province to help local children.
Everything they do is focused on helping sick kids and their families. Families like Dante’s.
Meet Dante.
Dream Kid Dante is a spunky 5-year-old with lots of energy and even more personality. He loves superheroes and arresting ‘bad guys’. Dante has arrested everyone in his family with toy handcuffs and locked them in the bathroom countless times. This Dream Kid loves family time and adores his two older siblings.
At just 9 weeks old, Dante was diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome - a rare liver disease. His liver cannot absorb vitamins or nutrients properly, which affects his growth, organs, bone, and brain development.
There is no cure for Dante’s illness.
Dante and his family focus on what they can do right now to help him grow healthily, inspiring Dante to be just like every other 5-year-old and to Dream BIG!
Dante’s Dream is to meet real live superheroes! He and his family will be visiting Disney World and meeting all the superheroes Dante can imagine during their stay at Give Kids The World Village.
Thanks to the first Submission Series event in January 2023, Eli’s Dream came true!
Dream Kid Eli is a 15-year-old who loves adventure, video games, and his pet cat named Kitten.
What makes Eli unique, however, is a rare genetic disorder called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. His connective tissue – his skin, joints, and the walls of his blood vessels – aren’t as strong as other people’s. Eli is often described as ‘extra bendy’ and is prone to dislocating joints. It isn’t uncommon for him to dislocate an ankle in gym class. This disorder also comes with common fatigue and pain.
But none of this stopped Eli from dreaming BIG! Adventurous Eli’s Dream was to visit Tarragona, Spain to experience the thrill-seeker’s paradise, PortAventura!
“This was the best trip I’ve ever been on,” Eli told us. “My day at the theme park was one of the best days of my life, easily.”
