The Great Skate is an outdoor race hosted by Trails of 'Toba hoping to get Winnipeggers out on the river trail to take advantage of winter and show off their skating prowess. Every year, the event has grown in popularity and we have seen our Great Skaters come out on days colder than minus 40 to participate! We are a hearty bunch, so we dress for the weather and lace up anyway.

This 6KM race on the Nestaweya River Trail is open to all ages and skill levels. Prizes are awarded for the top 3 finishers in each of male, female, and non-binary categories for both skating and movement portions.

The mass start will include a 6KM movement portion alongside the river. Skating is not mandatory, walk/run/move alongside the river trail!
