This thoughtful Dream Kid is an old soul who loves cooking and baking!
Her parents and family rave about how good her lemon cream pie is! She has two younger siblings and loves to play games with her whole family, especially Rummikub and Killer Bunnies. But Emma's been through some tough times too.
In November 2022, Emma went to a routine eye appointment. The eye doctor found that Emma was experiencing some pressure on her optic nerve, and Emma had to see even more doctors.
After an MRI, Emma's family's worst fears were realized, Emma was diagnosed with a mass on her brain.
"I remember sitting on the phone listening to the doctor thinking, 'this is not actually happening." Emma's mom shared. Emma went straight to the hospital and the next morning; she was undergoing brain surgery.
The surgery successfully relieved the pressure on Emma's optic nerve, but the mass was still there. Even so, Emma was back to school in just one week! She felt totally fine. Emma does require targeted therapy - 5 pills a day - to stop the growth of the mass.
Today, Emma is doing a lot better! Doctors say the therapy is working and Emma has been feeling good lately. She enjoys hanging out with friends, watching hockey (she's a Calgary Flames fan!), and playing games with her family.
But Emma's got something big to look forward to as well: a dream come true!
Emma's dream to visit Paris, France came true! She was very excited to visit all the markets and small shops, take in the sights, and eat some great food.
“It was really special to explore Paris – especially markets in the city!” shared Emma.
"It was fun to plan and do research, it's a good distraction from any medical stuff going on," Emma's mom told us. "I can't believe she gets to remember her dream come true forever!"
Emma and her family made the most of their time – they even set up a day to get professional family photos taken! The memories they made on Emma's dream trip were immortalized so they can reminisce for years to come.
