October 2020: Zachary's Dream Come True, An Eggstravaganza, and a Pie Party @ Home!
It’s hard to believe that October has already come and gone. We hope that you all had a safe (and fun!) Halloween and are staying safe and well. At The Dream Factory, we had a great month full of some exciting virtual events, wonderful new partners, and dreams come true! We’re also excited to share some exciting news about our newly announced Virtual Auction! Keep reading below to check it out!

As result of COVID-19, our previously announced Dream & Dine Virtual Dinner Party has been cancelled for 2020. With that said, we still require support to make sure dreams can continue to come true.
For that reason, our Live and Silent Auctions, raffle, and evening program will continue but on a new night: Tuesday, December 1st!

Dream Kid Update: Zachary's Backyard Dream Come True
Today we are thinking back to just weeks ago, when another backyard makeover dream come true wrapped up work for the season! With travel not an option this year, Dream Kid Zachary and his family decided that they would like to have the perfect space to enjoy some time outdoors.
Zachary is 11 years old and loves being outside and being active! His dream is for an outdoor space where he can build a fort, have his own space, and play with his therapy dog - Ollie!
Zachary loves to be outside and garden, but has to be careful about exposure to the sun because of his condition. This brand new backyard will be perfect for creating some shade, playing games of hide and seek (his favourite), and even has room for a secret fort! The patio will also feature a custom splash pad that will be perfect for staying cool next summer!
Backyard makeovers are BIG projects, and we are lucky to have lots of help from some very generous companies in our community. We have to thank our friend Dustin at Carter and Sons for leading the renovation project, and reaching out to many members of our community to make it possible. Those community partners include Greenlawn Yard Co, Rona Gimli + Rockwood, Barkman Concrete, Ron Paul Garden Centre, Timberline Contracting, and Prairie Rubber Paving.
We also have to once again thank our friends at Exchange District Pharmacy, who raised funds for Zachary's dream as part of the 2019 Pie Party!
It takes a whole community to bring a dream to life; and we are so thankful to have you all as part of ours! Thank you for making Zachary's dream come true!

Pie Party @ Home Is A Sweet Success!

It's official - the Pie Party @ Home was a hit! On October 24th, 50 delicious ice cream pies and fun-filled party kits were safely delivered to families throughout Winnipeg to celebrate making more dreams come true. Just look at these smiles from some of our favourite party goers!
This wonderful event would not have been possible without our friends at Good Buds Bakery, who generously invented AND donated all of the pies for this event; and the team at Exchange District Pharmacy, who not only helped to organize, but provided a matching donation for each and every pie sold! Your generosity and creativity allowed us to host a party that was fun, sweet, and most importantly - safe.
The Pie Party @ Home SOLD OUT, and that means together we raised $5000 to help support kids in Manitoba fighting life-threatening illnesses. Because of you, more dreams will come true!
We want to send a big thank you to our friends Nicole, Cary Tardi, and Heather's Pretty Parties for pre-recording crafts, magic tricks, science experiments, and sing-a-longs for the party. We also want to thank the students from UWinnipeg JDCWest who volunteered their time helping us out with our deliveries and make sure everyone received their pies safely.
Manitoba Egg Farmers Eggstravaganza!
We were so thrilled to be invited to join the Manitoba Egg Farmers this month for EGGSTRAVAGANZA - their free five-day virtual party for the whole family. Normally, Eggstravaganza is an annual one-day event, but this new virtual approach was a ton of fun.
Eggstravaganza activities included something for everyone: demonstrations on how to cook classic egg recipes, Q&A's and egg farmer tours, plus so much more!
We thought this was the perfect opportunity to bring back our Drop In Dream Party and host a few fun virtual activities! We prepared a pre-recorded magic lesson with magician Cary Tardi, and hosted a LIVE Drop in Dream Party with our friends Elsa and Spider-Man from Heather's Pretty Parties. We had a whole bunch of Dream Kids and members of our community tune into the party, where we read "Green Eggs and Ham" and did some singing and dancing, of course.
All of the fun was topped off with a very generous donation from our friends at Manitoba Egg Farmers to help make more dreams come true here in our community. We are so grateful to the Manitoba Egg Farmers for including us in their event, and for being such a wonderful partner to us over the years!

Princess Auto
We’re thrilled to be working with our friends at Princess Auto on their October fundraising campaign. Throughout the month of October, Princess Auto staff hosted a series of safe and virtual events to help raise funds for The Dream Factory and reach their fundraising goal of $15,000!
Funds raised through Princess Auto’s campaign will help support Beckett’s dream come true. Beckett is a preciously 11-year-old with Cystic Fibrosis who has big dreams to snorkel with sharks and swim the Great Barrier Reef when it’s safe to do so!
Thanks to the incredible team at Princess Auto, that dream is much closer to coming true! To everyone who participated in this campaign and helped support Beckett’s dream - we appreciate you!
Little Rowe
We were also very excited to announce a brand new partnership this month with Little Rowe! This incredible clothing company will be donating 10% of their fall sales to help make Dreams come true! This is what they had to share about this exciting partnership:
"Little Rowe is little basics with a BIG purpose. It is Jackson Rowes passion project. Family is where we started and it's where we are going. We started this collection to give back to the community and support families in need.
