October Blog: Pumpkin Parties, A Dream Bedroom Makeover, and Go Jets Go!

Halloween has come and gone, and we hope that you all had a safe, spooky time - with lots of candy, of course! October was a wonderful month at The Dream Factory complete with some very fun Halloween activities, an award nomination, and more dreams come true!

Sara’s Dream Bedroom Makeover

Bedroom Makeovers are always a popular dream come true - and this is one of our favourites! After spending so much time away from her home in Flin Flon for treatments in Winnipeg, Sara’s dream was to create a beautiful, comfortable space that she could come home to and enjoy.

Here’s what Sara’s mom had to say about her dream come true:

Sara’s bedroom was totally transformed and is now a teenage girl’s dream come true. It’s perfect for her and she now has the most beautiful space to enjoy and to relax in at home after so much time away at the hospital and in the city.

We want to give a big thanks to Sharla Rideout and That Colour for helping make this makeover possible - you did a fabulous job!

Halloween Fun at The Dream Factory

This Halloween was a busy one for The Dream Factory, with many incredible community friends supporting us in some very special ways.

First, our friends at Sobeys, Safeway, and IGA hosted the first annual Pumpkin Carving Party at the Sobeys Community Room in their Pembina location. We had 6 families join us for a fabulous party: delicious snacks, sweet treats, and some spooky pumpkins! Just check out some of these creations!

Thank you so much to the wonderful team at Sobeys for their continued support. Click here to read about how Sobeys is supporting The Dream Factory in 2019 through our Beyond Dreams Program.

Next, we were thrilled to be special guests at the Hustle + Charm “Boss Kiddos Pyjama Party”. Hustle + Charm is an incredible group of local entrepreneurs who wanted to learn a bit more about The Dream Factory, and these ladies know how to network in style! Pyjamas, candy, games and crafts made for a perfect evening for our Dream Kids to come and join the fun.

Thank you to Charmaine at Hustle + Charm for her incredible energy and generosity in including us in this fabulous event. We’re thrilled to be part of the Hustle + Charm family!

Finally, our friends Karly and Drew at KiSS 102.3 FM selected The Dream Factory as their charity of choice for the Kildonan Place “Carving for A Cause” pumpkin carving contest.

Their entry was inspired by this summer’s BDI “Cloud Nine”, and we think it turned out brilliantly! The best part? Kildonan Place will be making a donation based on the number of Facebook likes the photo received prior to October 31st!

We’re On Cloud Nine! Thank You to BDI!

Speaking of our friends at BDI, we want to congratulate them on another incredible season! We had SO much fun working with the BDI team this year on the very special Cloud Nine cone, and are so pleased to share that $15,000 was raised for Drea’s dream come true!

They have been true friends to The Dream Factory, helping spread the word about our Winnipeg Free Press takeover, and creating a pie for the Exchange District Pharmacy Pie Party!

We have so much love for the BDI - thank you for bringing dreams to life for kids in our community, and for making it fun along the way!

Go Jets Go! Dream Kids Enjoy a “Suite” Night thanks to Quintex

Nobody loves cheering on our Winnipeg Jets, and Dream Factory Ambassador Josh Morrissey more than our Dream Kids. It’s always special when we can get a group of families together at Bell MTS Place, and we had an extra special evening last month thanks to our friends at Quintex.

Quintex generously donated their suite to our Dream Kids and their families, and it was an absolute blast! We even had a special visit from Mick. E. Moose! Thanks again to Quintex for providing a wonderful evening for our families to relax, have fun, and cheer on our Jets!

Video Updates: Billie Eilish + Slingshot Cup

Over the last few months we’ve had a lot of fun - and we wanted to share a few videos from some of those experiences. Check out the videos below to see Emilee’s dream meet and greet with Billie Eilish, as well as the afternoon we spent with professional racecar driver David Richert!

Manitoba Chamber Nomination: Outstanding Not-for-Profit Organization

Last month we were so proud to be a nominee at the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, where we were recognized in the Outstanding Not-for-Profit Organization category. It is such an honour to be recognized by the business community, and we want to send a very special thank you to those who nominated us for the award.

We also want to send our congratulations to the Bear Clan Patrol, who won this year’s award. You do such incredible work in our community, and it is a privilege to be nominated alongside you!

Meet A Dream Maker: David Patrick + Exchange income corporation

Every month, we are going to recognize some of our incredible dream makers. These are members of our Dream Factory family who’s support is the reason dreams can come true for Manitoba Kids.

This month, we want to recognize David Patrick and the team at Exchange Income Corporation. Over the last several years, David has become involved with The Dream Factory as both a donor and volunteer with our annual Golf Fundraiser. His involvement has helped the event reach new heights, and raise even more money to make dreams come true here in Manitoba.

David is always willing to help our families however he can, and has become a very dear friend to The Dream Factory. Thank you David and the team at Exchange Income Corporation for all that you do! We are so grateful to have you as part of our Dream Factory family.
