Meet Logan

…and his Lightning McQueen dream come true!

Letter from a Dream Parent:

On November 25, 2017, our world was turned upside down. Our son Logan, who was 5 at the time, was diagnosed with T-Cell Non Hodgkins Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Late in the night he had kept saying his throat hurt and felt funny. We let him sleep with us and are beyond thankful we did. A few short hours later he was panicking and jumped out of bed and tried to let out a cry but couldn’t. We very quickly turned the light on to find him blue and unable to breathe.

After being transferred from our home in Neepawa to Winnipeg, they found he had a 5.3 x 6.1 inch tumour in his chest that was squishing everything. The tumour was causing him to lose all oxygen instantly if he laid down, as well as cells that had spread throughout his body.

Fast forward 2 years with chemo, radiation, lumbar punctures, and lots of ups and downs along the way, Logan is currently in maintenance with no evidence of disease!

Logan is full of fight, determination and love. Since day one he has always been determined to “kick cancer’s butt and never giver up!” He would tell himself that daily as he took his chemo.

Logan's big dream is to visit Walt Disney World to meet one of his favourite characters, Lightning McQueen. He has loved Lightning and the Cars movies ever since he was a baby! While Logan was in the hospital and staying at Ronald McDonald House (for most of that first year), we watched "Cars 3" every single day (sometimes multiple times a day!). He has gathered quite the collection of all the cars from the movies over the years.

Outside of his fight with cancer, Logan is a really special kid. He loves to go camping, play with his cars (he can play cars for hours), and Super Mario of course. He's a very active kid, always running around and busy playing. He also has a love for the Winnipeg Jets and stuff animals.

One of Logan's biggest support systems during this time has been his siblings: Riley and Keira. While they were quite young when Logan was first diagnosed, they have become very, very close in the last few years. They are always looking out for him and have helped him a lot through some very tough times.

Today, we are all anxiously awaiting Logan's dream come true. On behalf of Logan and our family, thank you so much for helping bring our special boy's dream to life.
