Deadlifts for Dreams 6

Just one month ago, Deadlifts for Dreams 6 rocked St. Malo, MB! It was a fantastic day of family fun - and of course, DEADLIFTS!

This year, D4D6 supported Ruby’s dream to visit Disney World. Our incredible community of lifters, fundraisers, sponsors, and donors came together to raise more than $50,000!

So many lifters bested their personal records - it was amazing to see this group of dreamers push themselves to reach new heights, both in lifting AND in fundraising! We couldn’t be more proud of this community. This year, we were delighted to welcome back some friendly faces, as well as many new lifters! Our community is forever growing, and it means the world that so many people are eager to help make dreams come true.

Dream Kid Ruby and her family attended the event - Ruby was OBSESSED with Spiderman, who was also in attendance. She enjoyed seeing everyone and made lots of friends! Amid all the excitement everyone at the event stopped to sing Happy Birthday to Ruby - who turned 5 years old the very next day!

In honour of Ruby’s favourite holiday, lifters were encouraged to arrive in costume! We saw cows, firefighters, 80’s aerobics instructors, and even Harry Potter! Ruby was in Halloween heaven, surrounded by folks dressed in costume just to boost her spirits. Anyone who forgot to bring a costume could still get their face painted by Heather’s Pretty Parties!

Among the impressive feats of strength, we saw several athletes deadlift a truck, provided for the day by Wilf’s Elie Ford! Even some folks from the community gave the truck lift an attempt - just to put into perspective the sheer strength of some of Manitoba’s strongest athletes.

This year, we unveiled the new Deadlifts for Dreams trophy! Each year, the top fundraiser will see their name added to the base of the award as they hold themselves up high. It was a very tight race this year, but the top fundraiser in 2024 was Devin Penner! Devin raised a whopping $5,829 all on his own!

We are so grateful for all the generous and dedicated folks who join us in celebrating Deadlifts for Dreams each year. This day of fun would not be possible without our lifters, fundraisers, sponsors, and all the folks who donated to support Ruby’s dream come true.
