August 2022 - Deadlifts for Dreams Reaches $100k and a Dream Builder Tells Their Story

The sun sure shined on The Dream Factory throughout August! We had a blast at Deadlifts for Dreams 4 - this year really was the biggest Deadlifts event yet! We got an awesome update from a Dream Kid, who’s growing into a young adult - we’re so proud! We also heard from a monthly donor about why they are so passionate about The Dream Factory’s mission.

Update from a Dream Kid!

Dream Kid Jasmine wrote to us and let us know what’s been going on in her life since her Dream Came True last year! A year ago in August, Jasmine and her family embarked on a fantastic trip to Quebec! She visited some great sites in the province, like Montreal, Quebec City, and Parc de la Chute-Montmorency! Jasmine told us that reminiscing about the trip makes her want to go again!

After their trip, Jasmine and her family moved to Alberta. In the Spring of this year, they moved again within Alberta. Jasmine tells us they’ve found a house that they plan on growing into for as long as they wish. This Dream Kid has had quite the adventurous year! Jasmine says she’s met so many amazing people along the way and has learned so much about herself. She has also met with a new group of doctors who will be taking on the job of making sure she’s healthy and can fulfill future Dreams!

We’re so proud of Jasmine and all the growing she’s done on her adventures! Jasmine gave us a message to pass on as well:

“To my fellow Dream Kids: You can do this!”

We wish Jasmine and her family all the best as they continue to grow into their new home in Alberta!

Deadlifts for Dreams - Reaching the $100,000 Mark

On August 27, we were out in St. Malo, MB for Deadlifts for Dreams 4! This event was all about sharing in triumphs - everyone was cheering for the lifters as they broke personal records, the audience members who learned to deadlift, and each other for raising a whopping $36k in support of Ethan’s Dream!

Premier sponsor, Manitoba Egg Farmers, were out in full spirit with egg toss games while audience members and lifters got their faces painted like unicorns and superheroes by Heather’s Pretty Parties! Even Captain America and Super Woman made it out to pull some deadlifts! Deadlifts for Dreams was that much more special this year because we reached $100,000 in total donations since the event began in 2019!

In its first year, Deadlifts for Dreams supported Maya’s Dream - and we’re happy to report that this month, she and her family were finally able to go on a Dream Trip to Disney! We are so thankful for all our sponsors, lifters, and donors from the past four years. This one-of-a-kind event has grown into an amazing fundraiser, and we can’t wait until next year for Deadlifts for Dreams 5!

Coming up in September: Super Strength for Super Kids!

In less than a month, we’re kicking off another event, this time in support of Ava’s Dream! Super Strength for Super Kids is a strongman competition to showcase our community’s ‘Super Strength’. The event will include several strongman events - it’s open to participants of all skill levels! Our fundraising goal for Super Strength for Super Kids is to raise $10,000 in support of Ava, a Dream Kid who knows the true meaning of strength!

Super Strength for Super Kids will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Anytime Fitness (3000 Victoria Ave) in Brandon, Manitoba!

Letter from a Monthly Donor

Pictured: the “two” that are part of Dream Builder Brenda’s inspiration.

We received a letter from Brenda Ambrosie, one of The Dream Factory’s fabulous monthly donors. She told us why she and her family are so passionate about The Dream Factory, and why they choose to donate each month.

Brenda and her husband Brad never thought they’d have children, but they when they had their ‘one’, their lives were changed as they became a family. Their ‘one’ was growing in leaps and bounds into a little toddler. One day, their ‘one’ suddenly went limp and lethargic, vomiting and unable to open her eyes. After a trip to the hospital, they were told it was the flu, but that didn’t seem quite right. After months of the same recurring symptoms, doctors finally found that their ‘one’ had childhood migraines. Once again, they were blessed – they were preparing for the worst.

After attending a Dream Factory event, Brenda and Brad’s hearts were touched when they heard the stories of children who weren’t as lucky as their ‘one’. They knew it was important for these kids with unknown futures to have a Dream Come True, taking their minds off their troubles for a little while. Because of their ‘one’, they became monthly donors to help insure these children’s Dreams do come true.

Thank you so much to Brenda for sharing this touching story! You too can make Dreams come true – just like Brenda! Become a ‘Dream Builder’ today to help make more Dreams a reality for sick kids in Manitoba.

Thank you, Dream Community, for always being in our Dream Kids’ corner.

we can’t wait to see what september holds!
